Rental Venue for Private & Corporate Gatherings
Located on the edge of Hawkins Park in downtown Vernonia next to Rock Creek, our rental venue is suitable for hosting various family and business events.
Our facility was previously known as the Scout Cabin, in honor of the historic building’s original use it was later renamed as Cabin in Vernonia.
We open our doors to business meetings, weddings, family celebrations, and other group events.
Overview of Amenities
We offer a range of amenities for your comfort and convenience. Our cabin venue comes with one large, fully equipped kitchen and two multi-stalled restrooms. In addition, we also have a hardwood-floored open area with tables and chairs and a surrounding deck with outdoor furniture to accommodate a larger number of guests.
OUR HISTORY
The Cabin in Vernonia, formerly known as the Scout Cabin, was originally built in the late 1920s for the Camp Fire Girls and was used by the Boy Scouts and other youth groups for several decades. The Flood of 1996 destroyed the cabin which by then had fallen into disrepair. A group of local volunteers came together as the Friends of the Scout Cabin and totally rebuilt the present structure in 2000 as a community meeting facility. In 2019, the Friends donated the building to Vernonia Senior Citizens that now manages the Cabin’s scheduling and maintenance.
Vernonia Senior Citizens dba Vernonia Senior Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation incorporated in 1967. Its mission is to promote the health, wellbeing and independence of seniors 60 and older through recreation, creative activity, congregate and home-delivered meals, support services, and information.
